Match Report – HFLFC v Ferring Youth

25th September 2016: Hills Farm Lane FC 5 Ferring Youth 0 (HT: 4-0)

Hills Farm Lane faced unknown opponents in the worryingly named Ferring Youth in their second home match in the league season. Several players from the first game were unavailable so it was much changed team that lined up on a fine sunny morning on a pristine pitch.

Having learned their lesson from the slow start in the opening game, Hills Farm warmed up properly for this one and hit the ground running, opening the scoring early in the 5th minute with a scrambled goal from Harry New following a scorching run by wing heeled Paul Rymarz. The game then became a close affair with both sides enjoying equal possession and chances at a premium. Tempers flared a little but some choice words to both teams from the touchline and good strong refereeing by the young replacement ref, Joe, settled everyone down and the match continued in competitive, if not angelic, fashion.

Three more goals before half time in a frenetic 15 minute spell sent the home team into the break with a healthy lead. Goals from the excellent Liam Kelly and Paul Rymarz were followed on the half time whistle by an elaborate finish by Stuart Rogers following more good work from Rymarz. The second half saw a more determined and re organised away side keep a tight ship and Hills Farm could only add one more to their tally, despite heavy pressure, once again scored by the human dynamo, Liam Kelly.

The team played with a strong defensive surety giving confidence to the midfield to feed the attack and join in, keeping the opposition pinned down for virtually the whole game. Every single player including the subs played their part and the display throughout was co-ordinated and virtually faultless.

Hills Farm's good start continues with ten goals now in two matches and only three conceded.
